If you’re a vegan or vegetarian who loves a standard “meat and potatoes” style diet, then having a deep repertoire of veggie patty recipes will serve you well.
The Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet, by Joni Marie Newman, is a two-hundred plus page tome featuring the widest variety of vegetable burgers I’ve ever seen. An abundance of them are better suited to the frying pan, but there are a handful that should be sturdy enough to hold up on the grill as well.
Recipes of note include the O’Brien burger made with potatoes and chick pea flour, curried split pea burgers, Sunday afternoon grillers and chipotle sweet potato burgers. Other veggie patties in the book’s repertoire include one made with pinto beans and rice, an Ethiopian berbere patty and a no-tuna melt.
