Recipes: Blonde Brownies

Blondies are a nice variation on a traditional chocolate brownie.  Fear not, chocolate lovers! Chocolate is still an ingredient in this recipe.

1 cup packed brown sugar, 1/3 cup melted butter or margarine, 1 beaten egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup sifted flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, 1/2 cup chocolate bits.

Combine butter and sugar. Add beaten egg and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Add nuts and chocolate bits and stir until combined well. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes.
