Another recipe courtesy of Sabrina. Great for a more unusual homemade hostess gift.
I believe she found this at a site called “cooks recipes”. I’m pasting the recipe below as I received it from her. It also has ideas for making your own choke cherry or raspberry liqueur.
Crab Apple Liqueur
1 (4-quart) mason jar with tight-fitting lid
4 quarts crab apples, washed, cored and quartered
4 cups granulated sugar
3 cups vodka
- Fill mason jar with prepared crab apples.
- Add the 4 cups of sugar and 3 cups of vodka.
- Store the jar on its side, turning once every day for 16 days to help the sugar to dissolve.
- After 16 days, filter out the fruit bits and bottle.
Makes 1 quart.
Note: Instead of crab apples, you can also use chokecherries with scotch, or raspberries with rum.
