Helpful Hints: An Automobile Safety Kit on a Budget

Here’s a great budget safety idea I got from one of my favorite frugal newsletters of all time, the Dollar Stretcher.

It involves keeping 1 roll of duct tape, 2 functioning flashlights, and two el cheap but bright colored umbrellas (yellow, orange, or red) packaged together in your automobile. In an emergency, you set out the opened umbrellas with the lit flashlights attached to each one, aimed towards the umbrellas canopy. This allows a really large bright colored beacon that can be seen from some distance.
