These look delightful as an independent appetizer, an accompaniment to soup, or with a spread. The best thing? Made with your own homemade baking mix, the cost is only pennies.
2 cups baking mix, 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup beer, 2 tbspn melted margarine or butter, sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Mix baking mix, cheese and beer until soft dough forms. Beat vigorously for about 20 strokes. Gently smooth dough into a ball on a floured cloth-covered board. Knead 5 times. Roll dough into rectangle of 16 x 10 inches. Cut into 2 inch squares, and then cut the squares diagonally into halves. Spread with melted margarine and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seed. Separate and place on ungreased cookie sheet, baking until golden brown (about 8 minutes). Makes about 80 appetizers, according to the recipe I found.
