Continuing along the alternative housing theme, we’ve also compiled a collection of internet links on quonset hut living. Many of these links also contain interior and exterior design images. As with the yurt research, we have a quonset hut slideshow on our computer and will work to get that up on youtube.com so those of you who are interested can view it.
For now, here are the internet links to peruse as you like. Please note that when I cut and paste these documents into the blogging software, some of the items tend to wrap no matter how I edit them. At some point, I hope to have time to enter the links one by one without the lengthy URL addresses, but for now I thought it was more important just to get the yurt, quonset and other alternative housing information up. Enjoy.

http://home.earthlink.net/~dectiri/OuterSpace/CulvrtHs.htm Building a house out of a culvert. I included this one because the structure of the culvert is very similar to the Quonset hut and the interior design issues should be quite similar as well. Another plus? According to the article, this is one dirt cheap option!

http://www.axwoodfarm.com/house/ Fairly detailed essay on one person’s quest to build a Quonset home, including the engineering to have it buried somewhat for insulation purposes. Numerous links here detailing the research, scale model sample images, the works. These guys ended up going with a modified design and not totally the Quonset, but several of the design principles could apply.
