There are a ton of recipe sites out there. Here are just a few of the ones I’ve found particularly helpful. I’ll post more as I run across them.
- Crockpot recipes - Most of you know that our house would literally shut downwithout a crockpot meal being planned at least three nights a week. Here is a site with some links and recipes. Feel free to post any specific recipes or site references you find useful. This small appliance is a phenomenal way to control time and budget, and also makes a useful warming unit during larger family functions.
- Ellen’s Kitchen Lots of good stuff on this site. I’m particularly fond of her “big pots” section with lots of bulk recipes for once a month cooking (oamc) or large family gatherings.
- Hill-BillyHousewife
Lots of ideas for powdered milk use here. Be sure to check out the link on the chart entitled “products made from powdered milk”. It gives some really great ideas for saving money on baking items. I particularly like the fat free evaporated milk recipe and have tried it on my holiday pumpkin pie fillings. It worked great, and eliminated the need to purchase canned evaporated milk for holiday baking. The rest of the site is worth checking out for extreme budget lists for groceries, frugal recipes and more.
-
Recipe Source Lots of recipe categories here, including make your own mixes, pet treats and ethnic recipes.
- Growlies for Groups
A page dedicated to the “Growlies for Groups” recipe collection, featuring some really great party recipes for extremely large groups, many of them quite frugal.
-
Bulk Chicken Cooking Plan Some ideas for handling bulk cooking of chicken.
-
Ground Beef Bulk Cooking Plan Some ideas here for really dealing with bulk purchased hamburger.
-
Lots of bulk cooking plans here at Robin’s Friendly Freezer, from the bulk cooking of turkey and ham to potatoes and pinto beans. A great help if you are just getting started with bulk freezer cooking for your family budget.
